Customer Service

Housemade is unique in that we've designed and built a range of pieces for family members, friends, private clients and television shows.  We've learned a thing or two in the process - from the design to the wood species, construction and finishing.  Here's what we've concluded;

We are a Design Build company and we are here for you throughout the process

Unsure of where to start?  You've come to the right place.  We have years of experience with interior design and can help you make the perfect choice for your home.  If you need to send measurements, photos of the room, inspiration - we can handle that.  Email to get started!

We build furniture from new wood, not reclaimed

First and foremost, it is not within our current design aesthetic to work with reclaimed wood.  Building with reclaimed lumber requires a ton of time, patience and can be quite costly.  More importantly, the wood must be kiln-dried in order to achieve the best stability and attempt to avoid any future emergences of bugs, and we are not currently setup for that type of process.  With the exception of live edge slabs, we are not likely to build custom utilizing this type of lumber.

What wood do you use?

We currently offer each piece in White Oak or Walnut but can build with a multitude of species.  This choice is due to the strength of wood in addition to the design aesthetic.  White Oak is characterized as a mostly straight grained wood with a medium to coarse texture.  It is also ideal for outdoor applications due to its tight grain and lack of open pores.  Walnut, however is a head turner.  The heartwood tends to vary between light brown to dark, often with darker streaks and finishes incredibly smooth.

Other wood facts

Wood is an organic material.  It moves - expands, contracts, warps and cracks.  We will always stand behind our products but to understand the nature of wood is to accept these items as characteristics and not defects.

Why don't you offer stain colors?

At Housemade, we believe in the beauty of the natural wood.  That's why we've selected the species in accordance to the designs that we've made.  Stain colors vary greatly between species and grains and can be very difficult to match.  All of our tables are finished in a pre-catalyzed urethane.

Customization & Made to Order

We offer full custom build, finishing and installation for most residential and commercial applications.  If you don't see what you want on our Shop page, please let us know how we can fix that by sending us this form.  All of our furniture pieces listed on the site are Made to Order and can be customized.  This includes dimensions, finishes, species and extensions.

Deposits & Payments

All antiques and made to order furniture must be paid in full up front.  Any custom builds require a 50% charge up front and the remaining 50% will be charged before shipping.  All custom inquiries are subject to a $75 fee which will include a shop drawing and quote and will be applied to your final order.  There are no refunds on the fee should you not move forward with your project.

Production Lead Times

Our typical production time is 4-6 weeks which does not include shipping and delivery, which could be an additional 1-6 weeks.  Please send us an email if you have a specific timeline and we will do our best to meet it.

Returns & Warranty

All of our custom furniture, made to order furniture and antiques are final sale.  We do assume responsibility for local delivery as well as shipping so each item must be fully inspected upon delivery to ensure that your needs are met.  However, we want you to be happy with our product so if there is a flaw in the craftsmanship, we want to hear about it.  We will do our best to repair or replace the item.

Measure twice, cut once

Having installed a multitude of projects, let us save you from the frustration of accepting a delivery that simply doesn't fit.  Think about the path in which the furniture will travel to get to it's desired location and note any doorways / spaces that might be too tight.  Most pieces can be designed to disassemble in order to make it through but proper planning must take place in order to ensure an easy delivery.  Housemade is not responsible for items that do not fit upon delivery.  Make sure you are covered, email us with any concerns you may have before construction at

We will be happy to send you a sample of the finished wood for a fee of $5 (two samples).  Click here to order.  Our samples are final sale and non-returnable.
